Putting it Together by JD-Hillberry Putting it Together by JD-Hillberry
My two-year old son was the inspiration and model for this drawing. At this age, he was just beginning to learn about himself and what the world has to offer. I believe that this self-exploration and development continues throughout our lives in our quest to make ourselves whole. When we keep our minds open to new experiences, we are continually "putting it together".

This drawing has been one of the most popular drawings I have ever done and has been copied many times here at Deviant art. If you do this, please give credit and do not offer prints for sale. You would be violating my copyright which I defend vigorously.

Thanks,
JD

Putting it Together traditional drawing by ~JD-Hillberry This is an incredible piece. The puzzle is divided up evenly and it is amazing to see the drawing of the little one putting the puzzle piece in that matches the rest of the drawing beautifully. My first thought: They say 50% of our intelligence is gained by age 4.  This little guy is certainly above average in intelligence:)

I am humbled to be writing you this comment. I am one of the copiers of your art concept. I was a lot younger when I drew my rendering of yours. I saw the reference in an art book I bought to learn on my own. I am sorry if I violated you in anyway. I do want to tell you that you are one of my greatest teachers in my quest to master my pencil. I am Honored and Humbled.

The art book you probably saw this in was my technique book "Drawing Realistic Textures in Pencil". Many people copy my work and as long as their copy is not for sale, they reference me and do not take credit for the concepts I usually don't mind. I consider it advertising. However, when someone copies my work, and presents it as their own or is selling it, they can get in some pretty serious trouble. I'm glad I've inspired you though.
Keep Drawing!

Really loved the idea of this drawing and had a go at it myself with my son instead. Have only started to draw so its nothing in comparison! Huge admirer, and just love your concepts. Only wish I was in the USA for a class! :)
