I had some great news this week I'd like to share. One of my newer trompe l'oeil pencil drawings just received some great recognition. My drawing entitled "Fooled" was selected as a finalist Art Renewal Center 2011-12 Salon competition. And, it was also selected to be featured in Strokes of Genius 5 Drawing Competition publication. I wanted my deviant friends to know about a new drawing workshop that has just opened up for registration. This three day class will held in Wichita, Kansas, September 23rd -25th it will focus on the techniques necessary to create realistic portraits. Students will learn the techniques necessary to render the textures of smooth skin, eyes, lips, and hair, with graphite, charcoal, and various blending techniques. Reference photos will be discussed in depth, and students will learn how to identify and solve potential problems. The class will culminate with everyone (including me) working on the same portrait.
